Tenute Mannino di Plachi

Vineyards of Etna

Etna Wine

The cultivation of native grapevines and the production of wine is one of the main activities of Tenuta Mannino di Plachi farm. Our vineyard is divided between Viagrande Etna Sud and Castiglione di Sicilia Etna Nord. For lovers of good wine we organize tasting days where you can savor new, strong and intoxicating tastes and aromas.
Etna Wine is the right opportunity to learn about our Sicilian white or red wines. Our Etna vineyards have a unique and unusual form of sapling. They grow luxuriant on fertile soil of volcanic origin, rich in minerals.

Our Doc wines

The Podere di Pietra Marina located at an altitude of about 550 meters on the northern side of Etna is dedicated to the cultivation of native red grapes vines such as Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio. From these vineyards we produce the Etna Wine Rosso Tenute Mannino di Plachi and the Etna Rosso Vasadonna Riserva. These two wines have an intense taste and a ruby-red color.
We produce our wine with traditional processing techniques such as manual harvesting and slow and natural aging in oak barrels.

Our PGI wines

In the Le Sciarelle estate, located 400 meters above sea level in the southern part of Etna, we cultivate the white grapes of the qualities Carricante and Catarratto. This grape is used for the production of Etna Tenute Mannino di Plachi, a wine with a delicate taste. Our company also produces IGP wines. Among our prestigious labels you can taste the PGI Terre Siciliane Rosso Tenuta del Gelso, a wine with a fruity and fragrant taste. We also find the white PGI Terre Siciliane Carricante Tenuta del Gelso, with a delicate and pleasant taste.
